Amazing dry pigments from Zecchi Art Store in Florence.
This is hallow ground for any artist visiting this great city.

Some of my favorite photos from Florence are of obscure carvings most people
don't even notice because they are too busy looking at
the "famous stuff"...it is fun to Open your Eyes!

Watercolor by Jennifer Winship Mark
This is a variation of the Vanessa cardui, also known as the painted lady butterly. This particular one has the pronounced blue spots. These blue spots occur usually in younger butterflys but only for a short time. This coloring is usually caused by the pupa being exposed to cold.

This piece I donated to Providence Child Care
in honor of Chuck and Louanna Eggert

Louanna told the story of a butterfly that fluttered none stop around their yard the day after their daughter, Emily passed on.
Now when Louanna sees a butterfly, she feels reminded that she has a guardian angel watching over her.

The great people at Providence were so sweet that they sent me a package of printed noted cards with this painting on the front and Louanna's touching story on the back.
very cool!!!!
Another good reason to keep on doing nice things for others.

Acrylic Painting
On the River
by Jennifer Winship Mark

This is a large piece I did in a matter of a few days. I am still fine tuning the lower left side.
It was really spontaneous and fun to paint.

Acrylic
"Flow"

I had so much fun painting this puzzle. It has been painted on the lid of a birch paint box. I was trying to get depth and 3 dimensions
while still remaining abstract.

This is an experiment I did in Sean Cain's class on Flemish Oil Techniques.
It is inspired by the painter,
Lucas Cranach from the 1500's

If you look up John Currin's work you will see Cranach
has inspired him as well.

John Currin has such a great way of capturing personality in his figures.

Ink and Peat is one of those wonderful little stores
where every display is a beautiful stillife.

This is a lucky picture!

This fixture has a wonderful sense of nostalgia mixed with
modern, mixed with humor!

The blackboard from an old school seems to be the
perfect compliment to this riot of color.
If you visit Ink and Peat, make sure you leave time to
have an amazing cup of coffee at Ristoretto Rosters. A great micro coffee roaster next door.

March 9th
Juliet Moran and I kicked off a workshop that was based on stirring people's

Creative Juices

and
Opening their eyes...

"The future belongs to a very different kind of person with a very different kind of mind...creators and empathizers, pattern recognizers and meaning makers." Daniel Pink

We are pulling together encounters that inspire people to harvest new ideas.

I think we have the makings of something innovative and very exciting...

Here are some photos from our first Creative Juices encounter.
After the group spent the morning mixing their own juice concoction we move into stimulating our imaginations. We then dove into a simple and fun hands on project that everyone could finish and take home.

Everyone loved creating these small acrylic and collage faces on
a 5 x 5 black wood block

The group did similar art combining painting and collage

Acrylic by Jennifer Winship Mark

Between me and Juliet we have over 25 years of experience in global product marketing and global art marketing, as well as fine art creation. We have extensive knowledge and the ability to teach over 20 different art mediums and techniques. The best part is, we both have access to a large cadre of creative companies, artists and designers in the Northwest and world wide.

Michelle
(graphic arts and social media professional)

busy painting her version of a "whacked out" cat.

Still life I set up for the "Juice Bar"

We will be setting up workshops, encounters and retreats for business professional and companies that need to stay on the
creative cutting edge.
We plan on specializing in "hands on" creation and artistic exercises that are geared for renewing artistic minds and for introducing art tools to more analytical minds.

Know any engineers that need this?

I'll keep you posted on our next adventure.
If anyone has any great ideas for exercises that really get the
"Creative Juices"
flowing then ......pass it on!

Acrylic painting and collage on old nautical chart
by Jennifer Winship Mark
Hi all!! I am still around. Here is a large nautical chart I did to
commemorate a 5oth anniversary for a local business. This scene
is just off Vancouver Island on the 50th longitude.
Hopefully I can work something out with the amazing
Columbial River Maritime Museum . I am hoping to
show all 32 of my hand painted nautical charts in
one huge show. Now I just have to frame all of them!
It still is up in the air though.
I am open for any other ideas on where I can show all these Pacific Ocean charts??????

Pomegranates are everywhere in the fall in Istanbul.
Notice the gorgeous way they can cut them and open them up like
a bubbly flower.

We went to the top of a beautiful hill to one of Istanbul's most famous
writers and poets, Yahya Kemal Beyatli.
His home was humble and surrounded in peace and
pomegranate trees.
Isn't this a clever bench to commemorate a writer?

Sailboats down at John's Landing on the Willamette River

Here are a few still-lifes my friend, Chris and I shot back in April. I think I will be starting a few paintings soon using these ideas. I love the challenge of painting silver.

I have been dying to try a back-lit piece of fruit for a huge 40 x 60....I think this would be amazing.....I love the translucency mixed with the delicate edges....I will leave the sheep out in the background!

We liked the composition but the white background was detracting. It still has potential. I cant wait to grab some of the blueberries and Rainier cherries for some colorful still-lifes this month.

Stillife in progress by Jennifer Winship Mark
This is a large canvas I have been working on lately
when I find the time. Which is not very often. I still have at least 10 more
hours to go before this acrylic piece is finished.

Watercolor in progress by Jennifer Winship Mark
This is a watercolor demo I started 2 years ago! I just recently decided
to finish it. Believe it or not, there really is a cute house
in Cannon Beach with this gorgeous garden!

Acrylic and gold leaf Painting in progress by Jennifer Winship Mark
I am still struggling with the arrangement and I need to figure out
the background and give it a great sense of glass.

Watercolor study by Jennifer Winship Mark
This is another work in progress. I need to sharpen up the
petals and paint the little white berries. I did this with my good
friend and fellow "blogger" Christine.
